Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about tracking site attendance with Twese.

What is Twese?

Twese is site attendance software for construction teams in Rwanda. Each worker carries a QR card and scans in and out at the gate, so you get an accurate, timestamped record of who actually worked — and pay only for real hours instead of a paper guess.

Do workers need a smartphone?

No. This is the key point: the worker only carries a printed QR card, like an ID badge. A timekeeper with one scanning device scans each card in and out, so the technology stays with the timekeeper. Every worker is counted the same way, whether or not they own a phone. Workers who do have an Android phone can also open the Twese app to see their own hours and which pay periods have been marked paid.

How does the QR card system work?

You register each worker once and print them a durable QR card. At the gate, a timekeeper scans the card when the worker arrives and again when they leave. Each scan is recorded instantly with the exact time. Managers see a live count of who is on site, and accurate hours flow through to payroll.

What happens if a worker loses their card?

Cards are reprintable. The attendance data does not live on the card — it lives in the system — so a lost or damaged card is simply reprinted and the worker carries on. Nothing is lost.

Can I see who is on site right now?

Yes. Because every worker scans in and out, Twese shows who is on each site in real time, broken down by role, from your phone or computer anywhere. You do not have to call the supervisor and take his word for the headcount.

How much does Twese cost?

Twese uses simple flat monthly pricing so your bill does not balloon with headcount. Professional is 70,000 RWF per month (up to 30 workers, 1 project). Company is 100,000 RWF per month (up to 100 workers, up to 3 projects). Larger sites are priced individually — get in touch and we will build a plan that costs less than hiring people to track attendance by hand. Prices are exclusive of VAT.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New accounts start with a free trial period so you can set up your workers and see the system working on a real site before you pay. When the trial ends, continuing simply requires an active subscription.

How do I get started?

Register your workers, print their QR cards, and start scanning at the gate. Many sites run Twese alongside their paper book for a week or two so everyone gets used to the routine, then retire the paper once the scan record is trusted. If you run several sites, start with one. Contact us and we will help you set up.

Does it work for more than one site or project?

Yes. Twese is built for companies running multiple projects. You can see attendance and live headcounts per project, compare sites at a glance, and pull reports for any project or worker.

Can I export attendance for payroll?

Yes. You can export clean attendance and hours reports to Excel, CSV, or PDF for any date range — ready for payroll, an owner’s audit, or a project closeout report.

Can workers see their own hours and pay?

Yes. A worker with the app can see their own days and hours throughout the month, and can see which pay periods HR has marked as paid. That settles most payday disagreements before they start, because everyone is reading the same record.

Is our data secure and private?

Each company’s data — workers, projects, and attendance — is isolated at the database level, so one company can never see another’s records. Connections are encrypted, and the database is backed up regularly. We do not sell your data or share it with other companies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What languages does Twese support?

The worker app is available in English and Kinyarwanda.

How is Twese different from a paper attendance book?

A paper book can be soaked, lost, or filled in from memory, and it can be quietly rewritten later. Twese records each scan the moment it happens and stores it safely off-site, so the record cannot get wet, go missing, or be edited after the fact. It also removes ghost workers and buddy punching, because no scan means no record and no pay.
