Terms & Conditions

Last updated 2026

These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Twese, site attendance software for construction teams (the "Service"), operated by Twese ("Twese", "we", "us"). By creating an account, being granted access, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind that company.

1. What Twese is

Twese lets a company register its workers, issue QR cards, record check-in and check-out times by scanning those cards, view who is on site, and produce attendance and hours records for payroll. Twese is a record-keeping tool. It does not calculate, authorise, or make any payment to any worker, and it is not a payroll, banking, or money-transfer service.

2. Accounts and access

A company account is administered by that company. The company is responsible for who it invites and for the actions of its managers, staff, and workers within its account. You must keep your login details confidential and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Access may be given by email and password or by an invite passcode, depending on the role.

3. Plans, fees, and payment

The Service is offered on subscription plans described on our pricing page. Fees are stated exclusive of VAT, which is added where it applies. Some accounts begin with a free trial for a limited period; when the trial or a paid period ends, continued use requires an active paid subscription. Fees are payable in advance for each period and, except where required by law, are non-refundable. We may change our prices for future periods with reasonable notice. If a subscription is not renewed or fees are not paid, we may suspend or limit access to the account.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for using the Service lawfully. In particular, you are responsible for obtaining any consents and providing any notices required to register your workers and record their attendance, and for having a lawful basis to process their personal data. You agree not to misuse the Service — for example by attempting to access another company's data, disrupting the Service, uploading unlawful content, or using it to break the law.

5. Worker data and data protection

To provide the Service, the company enters worker information (such as name, phone number, national ID, role, and photo) and attendance records are created when cards are scanned. In respect of this worker data, the company is the data controller and Twese acts as a processor on the company's behalf, handling the data only to provide the Service. How this information is collected and used is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Each company's data is isolated at the database level, so a company can only see records belonging to its own account.

6. Attendance records are not pay decisions

Twese records attendance based on the scans it receives. Those records are a tool to help you decide what to pay; they are not instructions to pay, and they do not replace your own checks. You remain responsible for reviewing the records, for your payroll and employment decisions, and for complying with applicable labour and tax law. Twese is not liable for pay decisions you make using the Service.

7. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we may add, change, or remove features over time. We may suspend access where necessary to protect the Service, other customers, or to comply with the law.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to Twese. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during your subscription for your own business purposes. Your data remains yours; you grant us the permissions needed to host and process it to provide the Service.

9. Warranties and liability

The Service is provided "as is" and, to the extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, Twese is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, or data, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if fees are unpaid, or if required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may delete account data after a reasonable period following termination; if you need an export of your records, request it before your account is closed.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and significant changes may be notified through the Service. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Rwanda, and the courts of Rwanda have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.

13. Contact

For any questions about these Terms, get in touch through our contact page. If you are a worker with questions about your data, contact the company you work for — they administer their own Twese account.
